Bursary Program
The Sitka Stage & Screen Bursary Fund supports students who face financial barriers to participation. Awards are based on demonstrated need, commitment to the program, and community contribution. Our goal is to make arts education accessible while ensuring the fund remains sustainable for future students.
We offer two types of Bursary
Partial bursary: Covers up to 50% of up to 3 classes in a year
Access bursary: Covers up to $100 for those needing a smaller boost up to twice a year
Eligibility
Students may apply for a bursary if they meet the following criteria:
- Are currently enrolled (or planning to enroll) in a Sitka Stage & Screen class, or program (Spring Break/ Summer Camps are ineligible.)
- Can demonstrate financial need or circumstances that would make full tuition a hardship.
- Are committed to regular attendance and positive participation throughout the program.
- Agree to communicate promptly with staff in the event of illness, schedule changes, or withdrawals.
Award Conditions
Bursary recipients are expected to:
- Attend all scheduled classes, with the exception of illness or emergency.
- Maintain respectful, positive engagement in their program.
- Understand that bursary awards are non-transferable and cannot be deferred. You must reapply each semester
- Failure to meet attendance or communication expectations may affect current and future eligibility.
- This award does not cover additional fees (ie. costumes etc)​

Our bursary fund is community supported, built from $7 of every student registration and occasional private donations. Each semester, funds are distributed as equitably as possible among eligible applicants.
